Child Development Center

Child Development Center is a 5-star child care facility that serves children from 3-5 years of age in ten different classrooms including three NC Pre-K classrooms.  Children may apply at anytime during the school year provided that they are at least 3 years old.  2-year-olds who will turn 3 on or before December 31 may enroll at the start of the school year in August.  Each classroom has one teacher and one teacher assistant with no more than 13 students per class.  CDC has on staff speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and a licensed clinical social worker. All teachers hold a North Carolina Teaching License or North Carolina Early Childhood Credentials.  CDC serves typically developing students as well as those with developmental delays.  Students are provided with two snacks and a lunch each day.  Child Development Center follows the New Hanover County Schools Traditional Calendar (please click on the calendar tab for exceptions).  Our academic day program runs Monday-Friday from 7:30am-2:30pm with Aftercare available from 2:30pm-5:30pm.

CBRS (Community Based Rehabilitation Services)

CBRS is a program for students under the age of 3, who have identified special needs and their families.  Infant, Toddler and Family Specialists and Therapists will support parents in helping each child reach his/her developmental goals.  CBRS is provided to students in the home, daycare, or other community settings.  These services are initiated through the CDSA Early Intervention Service Coordinators.

Preschool Outreach

Students age 3-5 with Individualized Education Plans (IEP) in private daycare facilities may qualify to receive preschool outreach services.  These Services are provided by a team of professionals including Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and North Carolina Licensed Teachers with extensive training in Special Education, Sensory Processing, Autism, Behavior Intervention, and Inclusion Strategies.  The team will work closely with you and your childcare providers to ensure the best possible learning environments while developing and implementing IEP goals.
